FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Straight answers on borrowing, the enquiry process and the state rules that affect your business.
Borrowing
Which states and territories do you cover?
All of them — New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia, South Australia, Tasmania, the ACT and the Northern Territory, in the capitals and across regional Australia.
How much can my business borrow?
Property-secured business loans range from $20,000 to $5,000,000 using residential or commercial property as security. Unsecured, cash-flow and line-of-credit options for trading businesses are typically $5,000 to $500,000, sized on turnover and bank statements.
What kinds of security can be used?
Residential or commercial property, through a first mortgage, a second mortgage behind your existing lender, or a caveat. The property can be in a capital city or a regional town; the lender will look at its value and how readily it would sell.
Can I borrow against property in a country town?
Often, yes. Established regional centres are routinely accepted. Small towns, rural acreage and specialised buildings are assessed more carefully, and some lenders cap how much they'll lend against them. We know which lenders are comfortable where.
Do you consider bad credit or ATO debt?
Yes, case by case. Past defaults or tax debt don't automatically rule you out, particularly where there's property security and a clear plan.
What can the money be used for?
Business purposes: payroll tax and other tax bills, stock, equipment, premises, fit-outs, stamp duty on a commercial purchase, buying a business, co-funding a grant project, bridging a slow season, or refinancing business debt.
What interest rate will I pay?
It depends on your business, the security and the lender, so we don't publish rates. Every loan is priced on your circumstances, and you'll see the full cost in writing before you commit.
The enquiry process
Will enquiring affect my credit score?
No. There's no credit check when you first enquire. We only discuss a credit check once you've seen your options and chosen to go ahead.
Do you pass my details to other lenders?
Not as a lead list. Your enquiry comes to one team and a real person works on it. We don't sell or blast your details around, so your phone won't light up with strangers.
How long does the enquiry take?
About 60 seconds. Accurate answers — especially the amount, your state, what the money is for and any property you own — help us match you properly on the first call.
What documents will I need?
Nothing to enquire. If you proceed, expect photo ID, ABN or ACN details and recent business bank statements, plus property details for a secured loan. Some lenders also ask for BAS or financial statements.
Who will call me?
A lending specialist who has read your enquiry. They'll ask a few follow-up questions and explain what's realistic.
State taxes, grants and local questions
Where do your state tax figures come from?
From the official pages of each state revenue office and government agency. We checked every figure on 1 October 2026 and review them each July, when most state changes take effect.
Can you help me work out my payroll tax?
We can point you to your state's threshold and rules — the payroll tax checker shows how close you are — but the calculation itself is one for your accountant or the revenue office. Where we help is funding the cash side once you know the number.
Can a loan help me take up a state grant?
It can. Many grants are paid in arrears or need a matching contribution, so owners often fund the project first. See our grants comparison and grant application guide for how rounds usually work.
Can I get finance to pay stamp duty on business premises?
Yes, duty and other purchase costs can often be funded as part of a property-secured loan, depending on the security and the lender.
Is your office only for Queensland businesses?
No. Our office is in Brisbane, but we work with businesses in every state and territory by phone and online.
